A life behind the teaching.
’m Stuart Pilkington, a yoga teacher, educator, speaker and father based in Cheshire. My work brings together movement, practical philosophy and a curiosity about how we can live with greater freedom, connection and confidence.
Whether I’m leading a class, training teachers or speaking to a room, I want people to leave with something they can use in their own lives.
The path that brought me here
Questions about belief, meaning and how we live have been part of my life since childhood. I grew up in a religious environment, and my relationship with those questions has changed as I’ve grown, challenged ideas and found my own way.
Yoga gave me somewhere to explore them through experience. Meditation became particularly meaningful during a long period of insomnia, while living and studying with my teacher in India deepened my relationship with the philosophy behind the practice.
Teaching has continued that learning. Every room brings together people with different bodies, histories and hopes, and that keeps me curious about how these teachings can meet the lives we are actually living.
What shapes my teaching
Thoughtful, informed teaching
Practical wisdom
I’m interested in how yoga philosophy helps us meet everyday life, from our relationships to the way we respond when things get difficult.
I draw on yoga tradition alongside science-informed approaches to movement, breath and wellbeing, with room for questions and continued learning.
Warmth and connection
I want people to feel welcome, seen and able to participate. Clear guidance, encouragement and humour are all part of how I teach.
Experience shared with real people
I’ve taught thousands of yoga students and trained over 100 people to become yoga teachers. My work has included studio classes, teacher training, workshops, festivals and private sessions, bringing me together with business leaders, sports professionals and people beginning for the very first time.
Helping someone understand an idea, find confidence in their voice or discover a movement they thought was beyond them remains one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
A practice I keep returning to
Strength training, yoga, breathwork and meditation are part of my own life as well as my teaching. I enjoy physical challenge and the satisfaction of developing a skill, alongside the quieter work of paying attention and making space to rest.
My practice continues to change with me. That experience shapes how I support others, particularly people starting again or discovering what is possible in a new chapter of life.
The life around the practice
Life with Louise and our family is where so much of what I teach becomes real: connection, patience, humour and making time for one another. We’re interested in what it means to live fully, enjoy the ordinary moments and make room for adventure. Family life gives those ideas texture, with all its joy, unpredictability and opportunities to keep learning.
Stories from our family
We share glimpses of family life, adventures and the ideas we’re exploring along the way. You can find our films on YouTube and everyday moments on Instagram.
