Opening

Welcome.
I’m really glad you’re here.

If you’ve found your way to this short course, it usually means one of two things. Either yoga has already helped you in some way and you want to understand it more deeply, or you have a desire to become a yoga teacher. Both are valid places to begin. This course is an introduction to Hatha Yoga but also how I teach, how I understand yoga as a tradition and practice, and why I believe this work matters now more than ever.

What this course is

This is not a teacher training. And it’s not a replacement for one either. Think of this as a doorway into yoga.

Over the modules that follow, you’ll experience a mix of short talks, practical examples, simple practices, and guided reflections. You’ll learn a little about the great history of yoga, the science behind the techniques and why they work for us today, and, you’ll start to see yoga less as a set of poses and more as a way of relating to your body, your mind, and your life as a whole. Most importantly, you’ll get a feel for how I approach yoga and this will help you make a more informed decision if you want to join one of my further trainings.

My approach is Grounded & its Practical, because I believe yoga can and should support our lives in a very lived way. My courses are also Spiritually informed because if I’m honest I don’t think you can separate yoga entirely from its roots and I don’t think you should do. But I should also make clear I won’t be teaching abstract ideas & I won’t be asking you to have a belief system. for me spirituality is miss-understood and my intention on this course is to make it more accessible and clearer. The part I want to emphasise the most is that we will always align the practices to real human experience.

Why yoga is needed now

Yoga didn’t appear because life was easy. It emerged in response to suffering, confusion, and the very human question of how to live well in an uncertain world. Today, the problems look different on the surface, but underneath, they’re strikingly familiar. Many people feel physically disconnected. They live in pain, stiffness, or fatigue, even if they’re active.

Many feel mentally overwhelmed. Too much information, too little space. Always reacting & rarely resting.

And many feel emotionally isolated. Theyre Busy & productive, yet still quietly lonely. This is what I often call the problem beneath the surface. Yoga, when it’s taught well, doesn’t try to fix you.
It helps you relate differently to what’s already here. It gives you tools to build steadiness in the body, clarity in the mind, and a sense of connection that isn’t dependent on everything going right.

What yoga offers

Yoga offers practices that meet you where you are.

It helps you feel your body again, not as an object to perfect, but as something alive and intelligent.

It helps you notice your thoughts without being pulled around by them.

And it helps you stay present with life as it unfolds, rather than constantly bracing against it.

That’s why this work matters now.
Not because it’s ancient, or trendy, or impressive. But because it helps people live with more honesty, resilience, and care.

Gentle reflection

As we move on, I invite you to reflect on one simple question.

What originally drew you to yoga? Why did you book on that class and arrive on the mat?

You don’t need an answer yet. Just notice what comes up.

In the next module, we’ll talk about who yoga, and yoga training, is really for. And we’ll dismantle a few myths that stop people from stepping into this work, long before they ever reach the mat.

Thank you for starting, lets move on.
